Welcome to High Tide, a faith-based mental health blog, written by me, Alvin Carey! I decided to start High Tide in October 2023 to share the sinking feelings that sometimes surround me. Additionally, I realized as I have continued to grow in my mental health at the same time there are numerous men just like me who feel as though they cannot speak about their mental health. Given that, I believe High Tide can be a light for someone struggling with their mental health or emotional stability! Every human being has sunk into themselves at some point or another, but not all have come back up for air. Coupled with a foundation of faith, I hope High Tide is a place and community where we can weather the storm and learn to breathe!

These are the titles I have chosen proudly to place on my shoulders and are what led me to start High Tide! All roles come with a mental, emotional, and physical weight. As I work in my roles, I would find myself in an emotional or mental HIGH TIDE. I would be completely overwhelmed as if I was standing in a storm, and consistently sinking more and more into myself. People often go through the same waves of feelings and emotions. That is to say, we are mentally drained or emotionally drowning at times. During times like this, I find myself asking for strength to tread water until this storm settles and waves of emotions subside! Using the promises of God (Yes and Amen), I can stand on solid ground until the next tide comes in!
What you can expect
The overall goal and prayer for High Tide is to build a community. When someone is in their storm they can come here to High Tide and find something whether it is a scripture or posts that will help. High Tide will be a continuous series of posts based on my Mental Health and Emotional battles. I will be utilizing scriptures from the Bible and faith-based principles to show how a foundation of faith was a blessing and a promise from God for myself!
